A message from Sarah Kemp, Chief Executive of TCL

The global pandemic has changed the world for all of us in ways we could never have imagined.
Many families have suffered illness, loss and unemployment, while many businesses have struggled to survive.
The education sector has been particularly badly hit with teachers and pupils having to adapt to very alien conditions indeed.

However, even with the immense challenges that the pandemic brought, the combined efforts of teachers,
examiners, candidates and their parents have allowed all of us to take enormous strides over the past few months.
To cope with the world in lockdown we accelerated and expanded the rollout of our syllabuses and examinations
across all subject areas in multiple new formats. By doing this, candidates of all ages and in many parts of the world have been able to receive the qualifications for which they have been working so hard.

Many thousands of candidates have been assessed by Trinity during the current crisis. That seemed beyond reach just a few months ago when we, like all other organisations, were forced to change our working methods during lockdown. These efforts have been supported by teachers and parents who have recognised the importance of enabling candidates to continue to gain the recognition they deserve despite the challenging circumstances of 2020.

There are many to thank for this success. Teachers who moved to different ways of assessing and marking; the parents and candidates who had to cope with new technologies and delivery methods; our examiners for embracing assessment in a digital space; our market representatives for going above and beyond to support customers through this difficult transition period; and our centres for rapidly adapting to enable widespread digital exams to take place.

We have all pulled together and we have all learned from this process. Not everything has been perfect and there have been challenges for some of the teachers and candidates who have engaged with us. Thank you to the many of you who have provided feedback. We have learned so much from the points you have raised and will be using this intelligence to introduce revised and improved solutions during this year.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for walking with us as we proceed on our digital journey. We are proud to have been able to support our candidates to continue with their progress during such a challenging year. We will continue to take the best of what we have always offered and mix it with the many new opportunities created by the implementation of modern technology.

I look forward to telling you more about exciting new developments over the coming weeks, including the return to live examining for some of our markets and the further development of our digital qualification portfolio.
